Report - Germany - Music is a key driving force of the economy

The various sub-sectors of Germany's music industry generated € 11 billion in revenue in 2014 and employed over 125,000 people, according to a new cross-sector report on the economic impact of music across the national economy.

Music contributes a gross value added (GVA) of € 3.9 billion, surpassing that of other creative industries including film, books and magazine publishing, the report says. The study, entitled The Music Industry in Germany was presented on September 23 in Hamburg. It was commissioned by Germany's most important music industry associations and was funded by the Federal State of Hamburg and the Federal Ministry for Economics and Energy.
