Investing in Music 2014
25. 11. 2014
Today, IFPI publishes Investing in Music, a global report that tells the story of how record labels large and small invest in and nurture and promote artists. The report is published by IFPI, which has some 1,300 record company members internationally, in association with WIN, the organisation representing independent record labels internationally.
Key data published in the report includes: US$4.3 billion invested in A&R and marketing in 2013; and over US$20 billion over the last five years.
Investing in Music also draws on case studies from across the recording industry globally. IFPI’s writing team conducted over 25 interviews with major and independent labels who gave their time and insights to the report.
The primary purpose of Investing in Music is educational. It highlights the role record companies play as the primary investors in artists’ careers, as well as how they have changed and adapted in a fast-changing market landscape.
