IFPI CEO speaks on trends in Asia and world music market
22nd May 2013
IFPI CEO Frances Moore today gave an overview of key music industry trends in Asia and internationally, in a speech delivered at the Music Matters conference in Singapore.
Moore said Asian music markets are at a key moment of development, with licensed digital content spreading rapidly across the region. She said barriers to future growth remain and need to be urgently tackled. Effective systems around the world have been used to reduce digital piracy, and there is progress towards fixing the lack of performance rights in some Asian markets.
Moore said that the industry is on the path to global recovery, but this is not likely to be a smooth path. Sustained year-on-year growth on a global basis may take a few more years to arrive.
